Acceptable Use Policy for Educational Technology

C
C is for Courtesy. Communicate through computers, as you would deal with people in person. I will use appropriate language at all times. I will not slander or defame anyone.
H

H is for Honesty. Respect all copyrights. I understand that it is unlawful to represent others’ ideas as my own. I will properly document all information obtained from web sources such as sites and photos in class work. I understand that copying software or illegally obtained files (i.e. MP3 files) is against federal laws.

A
A is for Accountability
. I will use the Internet only for purposes related to schoolwork. I will avoid irrelevant materials and comply with teachers’ instructions about accessing specific areas. I will not attempt to access material that is sexually explicit, obscene, or otherwise inappropriate. Some unacceptable uses are: entering Internet chats, playing games or accessing game-related sites, sending chain letters or other unnecessarily widespread messages, and downloading MP3 files.
R
R is for Responsibility.
I am responsible for my accounts and passwords at all times. I will never let anyone use my account or on-line identity. I will keep passwords secret, never disclosing them to anyone.
G

G is for Gift. Shorecrest has made and will continue to make a significant investment of time and financial resources to bring technology into the classroom. I understand the importance of these privileges, and will follow all rules outlined in Shorecrest’s Acceptable Use Policy for Educational Technology.

E

E is for Equipment. Protect our computer hardware. I understand that I may not install software to any campus computer without permission and proper supervision. I understand that I may not change any settings on the desktop, including control panels, preferences, system components, or configuration files unless directly supervised by a teacher. I understand that I will not eat or drink near computers, and that I should behave with restraint around computers.

R R is for Respect of Classmates. I will respect the computer identities of my peers. I will not log on as anyone else or use anyone else’s account. Except for my own schoolwork documents, I will not delete, alter or reposition files, or transfer files to any school computer. I will not tamper with another person's files.
S S is for Safety. Protect your identity at all times. I will not reveal my real name, telephone number, address, password, credit information, or other information that could be used against me, nor will I give out such information about anyone else.
