Beth Bartlett Recommended Links Class Policies & Procedures Weekly Assignments   Course Title: Algebra II Section: 230-1 Objectives: Algebra II is a college preparatory level course which, in normal sequence, is taken after Geometry and before Algebra II or Pre-Calculus. The course reviews and extends several topics first presented in Algebra I such as linear equations, functions, polynomial and rational expressions. Other topics such as logarithmic functions and conic sections are presented for the first time. It is the aim of this course to prepare the student for further math studies and to encourage the use of the graphing calculator to support and supplement their work. Another objective is to encourage analytical thinking skills to assist in problem solving. Methods: Classroom methods include instruction at the board, use of the overhead projector (especially when using the graphing calculator), group work, and discussion. Assessment Procedures: Assessment of students is based on test and quiz performance, class participation, group work, homework, and any other assignments that are given. Resources Used: Textbook: Algebra 2: Integration, Application, Connections, copyright 1997, Glencoe/McGraw-Hill. Course work is frequently supplemented by handouts. To assist in the production of these handouts, many texts and other resources are used. Some data collection activities, including work with the C.B.L. are planned. The graphing calculator is integrated with the course work.
