The 7th grade Visual Arts Wheel is integrated with the American History units offered in the Social Studies curriculum. The first project was designing and sewing a 12x12 quilt designed by studying the art work of Gee's Bend quilters.The students will also create an self-portrait and a American landscape. The main focus is learning how to draw with line and shade. Subsequent projects include a a clay Folk Art piece. During the nine week course, the students will continue to examine the elements of art and learn how to use a variety of art materials. Introduction of relevant artists will be incorporated into the curriculum. Journals will be used for note-taking and sketching.
