Objectives:
The students will gain a thorough understanding of the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle through physical activity during their adult life. By exposing them to a variety of single, duo, team and coed activities, it is hoped that these students will feel comfortable participating in similar activities later on. Fundamental skills, rules, etiquette and appropriate behavior will be introduced with each new activity.

In addition to the class instructor, other specialists in their fields will be accessed on an availability basis. These will include but not be limited to the areas of golf, martial arts, tennis, fishing, bowling, billiards, yoga, pillates, wall climbing, racquetball and floor hockey. A variety of off campus sites will be utilized when possible.

Due to the nature of this course, participation, sportsmanship and punctuality will be the main focus of the evaluation process. Adherence to rules and respect for others and equipment will be emphasized more than actual skill improvement. It is hoped that with familiarity and success the students will find enjoyment in these activities that will lead to future involvement.

By exposing the students to the surrounding area of recreational opportunities and discussing the current tournaments and sports being covered by the media it is hoped that the students will foster a willing commitment to active leisure living.
Resources:
Surrounding recreation centers, parks, golf courses, bowling alleys and martial arts establishments have been very cooperative with allowing access to our students for a nominal fee.

This is a semester elective course. Class design is geared around the interests of the students and availability of space and equipment.Two activities usually occur simultaneously each week, which allows the students to be on and off campus on a regular basis.
