Welcome to the wonderful world of Conceptual Physics. The most basic of all the sciences according to the author of your textbook, Paul Hewitt. Conceptual Physics is not an upper level physics course nor is it a physics appreciation course.......it is REAL Physics. Conceptual Physics builds a foundation for studying chemistry, biology, and science in general. (This explains why this is your first science course at Shorecrest Upper Division) This course will investigate the major concepts in the field of physics through a conceptual perspective. We will then apply these concepts to real life situations. Demonstrations, labs, videos, and the internet will be used to supplement classroom lecture and discussion. In addition, the inquiry approach to learning science will be used through the use of hands-on / minds-on activities.
