Quarterly: students may be assessed through the use of Tests (100-250pts), Quizzes (50-100pts), Classwork (5-25pts), Labs & Lab Praticals (50-100pts), Activity Write-ups (25-50 pts), Traditional Projects & Web-based Projects (50-100 pts), Performance Tasks (25-100pts), and Homework Completed (50pts). The grade is determined by taking the total points earned by the student and dividing it by the total amount of points possible for the quarter (including 50pts for the homework).
Homework: The homework category is worth 50 points each quarter. There are an average of 20-25 homework assignments per quarter. They are graded on completion not on accuracy. If all of the homework is completed then credit is given for the assignment. If some of the homework assignment is not completed then no credit is given. Homework is an all or nothing deal.
The student progress report (online grade report) shows each assignment. The first assignment is the homework cumulative grade which is actually worth 50 points. The score category indicates the number of assignments completed out of the total number of homework assignments given to date. The grade category indicates the % of homework completed to date & is the % of 50 points earned under the homework category.
Obviously each assignment has more weight at the beginning of a quarter when there are fewer assignments than at the end of the quarter when there are 25 assignments. Missing 2 assignments at the beginning of a quarter yeilds a 60%; whereas at the end of the quarter could yeild a 92%.
