Course Title: Study Hall
Section: 999-6
Objectives:
Study Hall is a time for quiet, independent study, during which students may read, work on homework, and otherwise study on their own. It is essential that we provide a quiet time so that all students are able to work in an environment most conducive to studying.
Methods:
Meeting With Other Teachers
Students who wish to use the study hall period to get help from another teacher, go to the library or learning center, or make up a test or quiz must first report to Study Hall on time. Students need to get a pass from a teacher authorizing them to go to the library, learning center, or the teacher’s room. This pass needs to be obtained before the start or study hall. Students will need to return to Study Hall with the pass signed prior to the ending bell.
Other Items
There will be a limit to the number of students that may go to the library each period. If your Study Hall is the only one during a given block the limit is 10. If more than one Study Hall is in session during a given block the limit is 5.
Students may not be excused from Study Hall to go to the deck, picnic tables, or the senior lounge. If you need to do college research get a pass from Ms. Huck prior to the start of Study Hall.
If a majority of the students have passes to stating a need to work in the computer lab the entire study hall will relocate to ST-6 if it is available. Otherwise students will be sent to the library as part of the ten or five students permitted.
Resources Used:
Students should come to Study Hall prepared with their homework assignments, writing utensils, paper, and needed books.
