Course Title: Algebra II H
Section: 235-1
Objectives:
Algebra II Honors is an accelerated course covering all Algebra II concepts in addition to covering Trigonometry. Students are expected to have mastered all Algebra I and Geometry concepts before entering in this course. The pace of the course is demanding of the mathematically talented and motivated student. This course lays the foundation for success in Honors Pre-Calculus.
Methods:
A variety of teaching methods are used to match the student’s varied learning styles. Projects and group work will be used to supplement classroom lecture and discussion. Whenever appropriate, the graphing calculator will be used to demonstrate concepts.
Assessment Procedures:
A variety of assessments are used throughout the quarter. Homework is graded for accuracy and completion each week. This makes up about 10% of the quarter grade. Each quarter we have 2-3 quizzes or projects with varying point values. There are 3-4 major tests worth 100 points each each quarter.
A midterm and final exam are given at the end or the first and second semester respectively. These are value at 20% of the semester grade.
The final grade is determined by averaging the two semester grades.
The midterm and final are both cumulative exams.
