Computers and Technology
Technology is an integral part of our daily
classroom experiences.
Computers: Each of our kindergarten
classrooms has four computers in addition to a teacher work station with computer
to ceiling-mounted projector hookup. Each class has Internet access and is networked
to a color laser printer. Our goals for integrating computers in the classroom
are:
- The children work on computers
EVERYDAY!
- The children learn the basic skills upon which
future computer instruction will occur.
- The children see the usefulness of computers
in their everyday lives.
- The children are exposed to a variety of
software that integrate skills and concepts with other areas of
the curriculum.
- The children use computers to create original
pictures, stories and projects
- The children work individually and with
partners, both on student and teacher selected activities and
programs.
- The children are instructed by their classroom
teacher or in the Lower School Computer Lab by our instructional
technologist, Mrs. Anna Baralt.
Calculators: We have
calculators for each child in a class. Calculators are used
frequently in our math program for everything from numeral
recognition to skip counting to addition and subtraction.
