Homework

The major homework objectives are to reinforce and extend classroom activities and learning through parent involvement, while building responsibility and independence.

Homework starts in September with book check out. Children select books from a variety of choices in their classroom libraries to share with their families that evening. Class books are to be returned daily.

In addition, students are able to check out a book from the Lower School Library as often as they return their previous book. While a Lower School Library book can be kept home for up to two weeks, we encourage the children to return them at least once a week.

Homework is assigned Monday through Thursday starting in September. The homework assignment sheets are sent home each Monday as part of the kindergarten weekly newsletter. These activities include a variety of topics and activities for the students to complete at home with their families, such as:

Book making	Journal entries
Drawings	Listening activities
Family projects	Math Home Links
Games	Worksheets

• Students should complete homework assignments in a relaxed, quiet atmosphere.
• We ask that parents not do the assignments for their children, but rather, assist as needed, encouraging independence.
• Please, no ink pens or markers on homework.
• Homework must be returned each day. Parents should send in a note if there is a problem.
