In second grade, social studies closely integrates with language arts as well as art, music, Spanish and technology. We explore geographical concepts while gaining an appreciation of the world. A major focus of this program is an introduction to the seven continents with an emphasis on culture and diversity, geography, government, history, and economics. These experiences enable everyone to develop an understanding and appreciation of our international community.

	Students utilize the Smart Board to locate the continents on the map.
Each day, students orally present to the class special projects they have created. Not only does it develop public speaking skills, the students are made aware of the global community.
