Third Grade Social Studies
The beginning of the year focuses on the various strands involving Florida and its people through the use of the Hello, Florida text. Using the History of US text, third grade students investigate prehistory, indigenous tribes, and early explorers of North America.
In addition, a favorite daily activity is investigating "This Day in History" and discussing historical events that have happened in the last 500 years. A daily geography lesson is also used to expand students' geographic and politcal knowledge of the United States.
Finally, our third grade program serves as a springboard to the fourth grade social studies curriculum which focuses on colonization and early American history.
