Gray
A gray day in the Sunshine City
a vast green space within the metropolis
The cloud cover keeps
the temperature cool, the rain holds off
Not many animals to be seen
a squirrel and a few moorhens
walking through the varied habitats
the
juxtaposition of human recycled sculpture
transfixed against the natural landscape
stunning insects and flowers
dot the park
A gratifying Saturday morning

An elegant blue heron wades through murky water on the shore of a glassy creek scavenging for every crab and crustacean in vain. Luscious deep green grass gleamed with morning dew, and the luxurious sun beat down intensely on a myriad of lustrous trees. The multi-colored mix of shells and red clays make up the substance that barricades the creek, but it is slowly eroding away. The disoriented reflection of the florescent bird shimmers with the current.

Like vultures attacking their prey, the minnows surround the rock and the shrubs. We are at the pond on campus, there are ducks, green herons, turtles and fish living here. There are cattails on the left side of the pond, on the right side of the pond was very marshy. In the shallow water their was small minnows, if you look deeper you can see bigger fish. It was very cool going to the pond. I would like to go there again.

The little anole was brown, black, and striped on its back. Its little beady eyes are looking for something to eat. It was like the fence its self. The bright sun was beating down on the little brown anole. It is so quick when it runs away to get out of the sun you can’t see it. The little anole ran into a hole in the ground to get out of the sun.

Oleander is a bright pink flower. These beautiful flowers grow on small trees. If eaten, oleander can be poisonous, but as a decoration, oleander is a glorious, pink heaven.
This flower grows well in yards and gardens. The look of the long, graceful leaves add a tropical look to the area around it. The thin, rough branches aren’t pleasant to the touch, but are a nice contrast to the color of the flowers. On a clear day oleander stands out more than a trillion suns.
Small orange and black caterpillars are death to this plant. They munch on the crunchy branches like famished beasts. Oleander needs to be protected from these caterpillars, and as long as they are protected, they will be as beautiful as silk stars.

The fauna I spotted was very special. It was in the trash, but it was startled and it scurried up a palm tree. It’s radiance of brown and furriness was remarkable, and it gleamed in the morning sun. It’s bushy tail cloaked a shadow over the ground. It’s eyes are as black as a cat, but it’s also as cute as a button. It’ speed is like a drag racing car. I think squirrels are amazing.

The water was like glass which shined and glittered. The Green Heron stands on the branch looking for something to eat smaller then him. The feathery creature was on branches that had fallen down in the marshy waters. From the water you can see flowers, bushes, and trees.

This flower has shining pink petals. It attracts eyes all around. Its petals feel like silky sheets. The things that are in the middle of the flower are like spider legs. It grows on a tree with others like a school of fish.

The rhododendron flower stands out more then all the other leaves behind it. the rhododendron is a very beautiful flower when you look at it. The flower has very pretty stems they are very pink. On the rhododendron there are little drops of water on the stems. The beautiful flower is the sun because the flower shines like the sun.

A green heron with a gray-blue crest stood on thin, short legs on a piece of plant floating in water, green with algae. It was like a statue, only it’s eye, gray and unblinking moved. A huge sea grape stood in the background. Pink flowers stood framed against a cloudy sky.
