GOALS

 To promote student development of:

 1. cognitive learning through the use of study guides, class discussions and written tests.

 2. a positive attitude toward healthy lifestyle.

 3. self-concept through independent learning, problem solving, and accepting challenges.

 4. develop the social skills of sharing, taking turns, cooperating and learning to be effective leaders as well as contributing followers

Students are challenged during each lesson to be successful both individually and as a group. Feedback is given on the students' ability to solve problems and. While lessons are planned and structured, learning can be spontaneous.

Students will be observed throughout each grading period. Evaluation is a continuous process where each student is being evaluated for grading purposes during each class period. Since grading is occurring each class, consistent high effort and positive attitude are necessary each day.

Each student's grade is determined by the effort, attitude, and awareness she demonstrated during class.

Formal assessments will also be tied into the grading process. These activities allow students to be accountable for their learning and performing in class. The assessments will report , recall of knowledge and the students' abilities to work with peers to complete a task and display learning.

Ultimately the over-all goal is for each girl to take the information

and skills that she learns in Health to develop a healthy lifestyle during

adolescence and throughout their life.
