Aquarist’s have a hard job that is not usually noticed. The job requires a lot of hard labor. The Aquarist must clean the tanks and keep them looking nice. The Aquarist is responsible for feeding the animals they are working with. The job also requires the employee to watch the animal’s intake and diet to keep them healthy. Working with animals is also very challenging. The animals might not always want to work with you. This makes for odd working times. Working with animals also leaves little time off from work. The animals to not take the holidays off so either do you.

The daily challenges for an Aquarist involves constantly checking the water condition. If the water changes a Ph slightly it could have deadly consequences to a fish. Other jobs include preparing the food for the fish, and keeping track of the fish's diets. Also using some manual labor to clean the tanks daily. Aquarist's usually make between 30,000 to 70,000 dollars a year depending on the job.

 

 

 

Qualifications for becoming an Aquarist


> Bachelor’s degree in Biology, marine biology, or aquatic science
> Need to be able to work with people as a team and give presentations
> Love of animals
> Students should take biology, chemistry, and mathematics classes in school
> Background in working with aquatic animal Work in a pet shop or own fish
> Should know how to swim and should be a qualified Scuba diver
