Oceanography...Is it for You?

Like most jobs, there is a path that one can follow in order to become a successful Oceanographer. It is beneficial to take undergraduate classes in calculus, statistics, and differential equations. Once a person hascompleted undergraduate work they can increase their opportunities of getting higher ended jobs. Being able to use a computer better than the average person is also beneficial. Research is imperative to one who wants to become an Oceanographer. Being involved in summer field experiences or internships is a great way to land a good job in the field of Oceanography. |

Once you become a professional Oceanographer, you have many options of employment. Depending on the particular job, an Oceanographer can do a variety of things in his or her field. Among these are hydrogeology, environmental sciences, testing the quality of the water, environmental coastal engineering. These jobs are important to the keeping. All of these jobs fall into two categories; physical oceanography and geological oceanography. A physical oceanographer studies the physical elements of the ocean and how it relates to the atmosphere. A geological oceanography studies various things such as rocks and what makes up the ocean floor. This wide variety of occupations is a good reason for going into the field of oceanography |
