Marine Biomedical Research, Its Not the Most Boring Thing in the World

By: Ian

The field of biomedical research is rapidly growing
and expanding because of its importance to medicine in
general. Research in enzyme and immune systems in
marine animals are producing results that will help
stop and prevent cancer. Also enzymes that will help
suppress the immune system have been found. For
example trout has become very important in cancer and
other research due to its low cost and near immunity
to cancer. Coral has also provided some medical
advancements, eleutherobin for example has aided in
the treatment of some cancer. Anti inflammatory agents
have also been discovered in marine life. Marine biomedical researchers that are doctors make about 52 thousand a year. Those with Bachelors degrees will make about 27 thousand a year.
One reason for this research is that there are marine
animals that have the diseases and ailments that we
have, such as coronary artery disease and kidney
stones. The discoveries that are made can
help other industries as well. Research on oysters
and algae has uncovered a substance that may help with
bone loss as well as make more lightweight materials. These advancement help everyone in one way or
another, proving that marine biomedical research is
very important to us all. Many aquariums, biomedical companies and Universities do marine biomedical research.
