Most of the consumers are many types of invertebrates, including many species of crabs like this soldier crab.
 
Crabs and invertebrates are mainly the consumers of the mangrove ecosystem eating all the debris, or deitrus, found littered across the ground. These animals help start off the process of the food web, intiating energy conversion in the ecosystem. The invertebrate to the right is called a nipper.
