Many birds and fish inhabit the area around the mangroves in the U.S.
 
Their are many animals that inhabit the mangrove ecosystem, but in the U.S. most of the vertebrates are fish and birds. Mangroves in more tropical regions such as Borneo are homes to animals like the probiscus monkey, hornbills and sea turtles. These animals are at the top of the food chain in the mangrove ecosystem.
