When someone hears about algae in Florida, they usually think about Red Tide. However, algae affects our lives on a daily basis. Some algae are large organisms commonly called seaweeds. There are substances found in brown and red algae called phycocolloids. These phycocolloids are extracted from algae and used to manufacture numerous products that we use everyday! Each student used the internet to research phycocolloids. They created informative webpages to teach us all about the importance of algae.
