Mangroves have evolved to survive in saltwater enviroments and can be found throughout the world. In Florida alone, it is estimated that there are 469,000 acres of mangrove forest. Mangrove ecosystem help to trap and cycle various nutrients and chemicals. Their roots are also designed to catch silt, which as it builds up, the more mangroves can grow. Mangrove roots help to provide homes for varios marine organisms, nursery areas for fish, crustaceans, and shellfish. They also provide food for many organisms.
