Scallop: Guekensia demissa

Mussels and scallops are two members of the bivalve class. They live in both fresh water and salt water. Even though both are in the same class, their ecology is quite different. One major difference, scallops are structured to be able to swim while mussels attach themselves to objects. This website will discuss the significance and special characteristics of these two bivalves.
