Coral and Sea Anemone are organisms that help create one of the most diverse marine ecosystems. They are the main components in creating coral reefs, which is known as the “rainforest of the ocean”. These organisms are generally found in warm to temperate, shallow waters around the equator. Both organisms seem to have symbiotic relationships with other marine wildlife. For example, clownfish re known to live in coral for protection, while coral recieve the food left behind by the clownfish. Sea anemones provide camouflage for hermit crabs when attached to their shells, while sea anemones receive the food left behind. The most common symbiotic relationship is with the zooanthellae (algae). The algae produces food though photosynthesis that is shared with coral. Meanwhile coral provides access to sunlight for the photosynthesis and protection.
