Cnidarians are some of the simplest and most beautiful "animals." The Cnidarians include the hydroids, jellyfish, anemones, and corals. All Cnidarians have tentacles with stinging cells in their tips which are used to capture and subdue prey. After all, the word Cnidarian means "stinging creature" in Latin. Some jellyfish can deliver very painful, and sometimes fatal, stings to people. The creatures in this phylum are radially symmetrical. Cnidarians can have one of two basic body types, polypoid or medusoid.
