Live bait is considered the best bait for fishing Cobia. Pinfish, Greenbacks, Eels, Crabs, Shrimp, and Squid, are all used for cobia. You can also use artificials such as a feather jig or a diving plug. Heavy tackle and line is needed to fish for Cobia. A typical setup would be a 6 foot rod with 12 to 20 pound monofilament. Cobia are found inshore and around pilings, buoys, and reefs. You can also sightfish Cobia in the flats.
