Sailfish

By Chad

The sailfish is in the family Istiophoridae, which includes Billfish. Sailfish are found offshore of south Floridaand off the panhandle. They are commonly 7 feet long and swim up to 68 MPH. Sailfish are mainly caught for sport and do not make good food. Sailfish are distinguished by their huge dorsal fin, that looks like a sail, hence their name Sailfish.
