The melting of permanent ice in both Antarctica and the Arctic are affecting how the native people live. They have been forced to move to new places to follow their main food sources. Many scientists have said that because of global warming icebergs will start to melt and cause an increase in sea levels which will threaten low-lying areas. It will also cause a change in rain patterns as well as the amount of rain which could lead to stronger more extreme weather events like floods, hurricanes, as well as others. However, many, if not all scientists agree that many of these predicted phenomena may not happen because it is impossible to know how much humans influence global warming and how much of it is a natural cycle. |
