Ch 8 Work, Simple Machines & Energy Resources Units

This Chapter is divided into 3 separate units.
1. First we will learn about Energy, work and power. We will discuss the types of energy in very basic terms. (will learn about types of energy in more depth during the 3rd quarter.) We will learn about Potential Energy and Kinetic Energy too.
2. The second energy unit will be the Simple & Compound Machines covered at the beginning of the 3rd quarter.
3. The third energy unit will be an in-depth look at the types and sources of energy.

EdHeads Simple Machines Website: Steps 1 & 2 Mandatory
Although it is a little "cheesy", the EdHeads Website has a variety of activities that illustrate/explain a variety of simple and compound machines used in everyday life. Students will go to the website and complete 3 tasks (only step 2 for 2011)
1. Complete Simple Machines Glossary WS (not required 2011)

 
2. Complete WS while playing EdHead's Simple Machines Website Game. (Complete only pg 1 of WS. 2011)
3. Play the EdHeads Odd Machines (not required 2011)
