EGG DROP ESTRAVIGANZA
|

INTRODUTION Put yourself in this sitution. You are driving in a car and a airplane crashes down and hits your car. Your airbags come out, which results in the blow not bieng as large as if you had hit the dashboard. Why does this happen????? To emulate this type of conondrum, we did an egg drop experiment in which an egg was the object which would recieve a blow and different paddings would serve as "airbags" when the case hit the ground. DESCRIPTION OF MY CASE My case was a small plastic tube, filled with napkins for resistance. Then a "drink cozy" was snuggled neatly in the napkins, and the egg was placed inside, covered by a napkin insole top and covered by a plastic cover. |

MY EGG DID NOT BREAK |

WHY DID IT NOT BREAK It did not break because the padding and snuggness of my egg case (not to brag....:)) caused the time of impact on the egg to be extended. Because of the lesser impact force on the egg, it did not break. Stupendous! |

WHAT I COULD HAVE DONE BETTER
Looking back on the project, I realize that I could have been safer with my design and added more padding. However, I do believe that it was good to make the design compact and snug, so the egg would not move around or hit a hard surface. Overall, I am glad with my egg case design. It was a great experience.
This can be applied to real life in many situations, for example when dockworkers use cranes. It was great! |
