In the Egg Drop Eggstravaganza lab, the class designed an egg case that they would be dropping off the bleachers with an egg inside. The goal of this activity is for your egg to have a greater time of impact. The more padding and cushion that your egg had the greater time of impact your egg would have. This project will provide a better understanding of momentum and impulse.

My egg did not break. My egg case was composed of a small cardboard box with paper towels and tissues stuffed inside. The paper towels and tissues decreased the impact force. In other words, the paper towels provided support so the time of impact would increase.

There are a few improvements I could have made to my case. I could add more paper towels for better support. I could also add a different material such as bubble rap or styrofoam peanuts.

The use of momentum and impulse can be included in our daily life. For example, sky divers bend their knees and roll when they hit the ground to extend the time of impact. Also, a boxer rides with the punch to extend the time of impact. A stuntman uses a mat, a volleyball player uses cushions on his or her knees, and a BMX biker uses shocks for his bike. All of this is for extending the time of impact.
