Isaac Newton was born on December 25, 1642 in Woolsthrope. He was the great English mathematician of his generation. His work on optics and gravitation makes him one of the greatest scientists the world has known. Newton was educated at Trinity College. During this period he produced his work on mathematics. As mathematician, he invented integral calculus, and he also calculated a formula for finding velocity of sound. Newton made a huge impact on astronomy. He defined the laws of motion and universal gravitational, which he used to predict the motions of stars, and the planets around the sun. Using these discoveries in optics, Newton constructed the first telescope. Later in the years, Newton died in London on March 20, 1727. These were some the Newton’s main accomplishments throughout his lifetime. |
