Pendulum Lab
Our class used the inquiry method to determine what variables effect the period of a pendulum. By observing and studying pendulums, we could apply this knowledge to other rhythmic vibrations such as sound waves and electromagnetic waves (light, UV, IR, radio waves ect). The students isolated one variable at a time and tested it to determine if it had an effect on the period of the pendulum. After determining what variables effect the period of the pendulum, they had to use this knowledge to design a pendulum that would have a frequency of 1 Hz. (Ask your child to explain further! )
