Determining Semester Grades
I weight the semester exams as either 20% or 32% : which ever option is most adventageous for the student. see below:
Quarter (40%) + Quarter (40%) + Semester Test (20%) = Semester Grade
or
Quarter (34%) + Quarter (34%) + Semester Test (32%) = Semester Grade
.
Determining Final Course Grade
1st Semester Grade (50%) + 2nd Semester Grade (50%) = Final Course Grade ...(1 year course)
or
Quarter (40%) + Quarter (40%) + Semester Exam (20%) = Semester Grade ...(1 semester course)
Shorecrest college transcripts report only 1st & 2nd semester grades as well as the final course grade.
Homework:
I design every assignment to support your learning in class. I write all due dates on the board as well as on my online homework page; therefore, you should always know what to expect. Remember: it’s YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to keep track of your homework assignments!

Late Homework: Homework is time-sensitive. You need to do it before class so you’ll have the necessary background to understand that day’s content. Homework must be present and completed when you walk into the classroom. I award no credit for late homework.

Assignments: projects, lab reports, activity write-ups, online activities. All due dates will be on board and homework webpage.
LATE WORK: will drop 10% each day it is late.

Making Up Work:
If I assigned the work before your absence, then you miss a few days of school, and then come back on or before the due date, I expect you to turn in the work on the due date; if you’re absent on the due date, I expect you to bring it upon your return (either way, there is no due date extension). If work was assigned while you were away, but you return before the work is due, your due date is the same as everyone else’s (in very rare cases I may offer an extension for extreme troubles, but this must be arranged outside of class with the teacher. If work was assigned while you were away and you return on or after the due date, you will be given one day to make up assignment for each day of excused absence, up to one week, unless I approve extenuating circumstances. Students absent on religious holidays will not be expected to have homework or assignments completed until the second day they return to school.

Making up Tests:
If student is absent the day of the test, they will be required to make up the test on the day they return to school. If a student misses a class in which a test is given in the morning, the student will be required to make-up the test during their free period or lunch that day.
If a student has missed days prior to and the test, then upon returning to school the student will make arrangements with the teacher to make up missed work and the test.

Technology Failure/Issues:
If the student is unable to complete an assignment due to technical issues, the student will immediately inform Mrs. Peck via email (lpeck@shorecrest.org). If your email is down, call a friend and have them email me. Or text me at 727-510-4030 include your name and technical issue. As long as I am notified of the technical issue during the night before due date, then you will be granted extra time. I will not grant extra time if the student tries to notify me of technical issues the morning of the due date or during class on the due date.
