According to the National Virtual Translation Center, Spanish is spoken by over 352 million people throughout the world. It is the official language of over twenty nations and one of six working languages of the United Nations and the European Union. It is the most-studied language in U.S. schools and universities.

A knowledge of Spanish can be an advantage for students since it is such a global language. Shorecrest Middle Division students are gaining an appreciation for the language and the diverse peoples who speak it as they begin the journey of language study.
