1.     Rules regarding lateness, absence, and make-up work will be the same as those found in the Shorecrest Student Handbook.  Please be familiar with them.

2.     If you need assistance outside of class, please contact me at mjarvis@shorecrest.org or at school to arrange an appointment.

3.      Trimester grades will reflect a given percentage of the following:

Tests 40%

Quizzes  20%

         -Quiz types include advance notice, pop and online.

Papers and projects 15%

         -Written work may be assigned as homework or for completion in class.  Information and criteria for projects will be provided whenever projects are assigned.

Oral grade 10%

         -Based upon class participation, pronunciation improvement, sentence structure, etc.  (Don't be shy!)

Listening Comprehension 10%

         -Assessments of listening comprehension will be given at least once a week.

Homework/ Organization 5%

         -This category will reflect the student's preparedness and attentiveness on a daily basis.

*Please note that homework will be assigned almost every day. Assignments may be online or on paper.  If time and curriculum permit, students may be allowed to begin their homework during the last few minutes of class. It is important that students keep up with their work.  Incomplete or missing work will be accepted, but points will be deducted for each day that it is late.  Homework passes may be earned at various times throughout each trimester.  A homework pass may be exchanged for one workbook/textbook assignment or for a vocabulary list.

4.     Standardized or copyrighted tests and quizzes will be retained in a classroom file.  Students and parents are encouraged to come to the classroom to review tests/quizzes on file.  All other assessments will be sent home for parent and student review. 

5.     A final exam will be given in this course.

6.     Food, drinks, and gum will not be permitted in class.

7.     Students must bring all their necessary materials to class every day.  Failure to do so will be reflected in their organization grade at trimester's end.       

8.     Textbooks must have the student's name written in ink on the inside front cover, to avoid misplaced texts.

9.     It is required that students purchase a Spanish-English dictionary.
